Local Organization Hosts “A Dog Walk in the Park” Fundraiser
September 10, 2007

On Saturday September 15, The Bella Foundation will host its first annual “A Dog Walk in the Park” in Duffner Park at the corner of Hefner and May in The Village. The event will be from 8 – 4pm and includes a 1.5-mile walk to raise funds for the organization, 25+ vendors focusing on animals, a pet adoption drive sponsored by the Oklahoma City Animal Shelter, and a vaccination and micro-chipping campaign provided by Neel Animal Hospital, along with many other fun activities. Cherokee Ballard of KFOR News Channel 4 will serve as the Master of Ceremonies for the event.
The Bella Foundation is a local 501(c)(3) non-profit organization created to assist elderly, low-income or terminally ill pet owners with the cost of veterinary care. Eric McCune, President and Co-Founder of The Bella Foundation said “Every year thousands of pets do not receive proper veterinary care because their owners cannot afford it. To think of the countless number of people faced with the knowledge their beloved pet is sick and treatment is financially out of reach breaks our hearts. The Bella Foundation believes every animal deserves the best treatment possible regardless of the owner’s ability to pay. All we ask in return is that if help is given, and the owner is able, they volunteer 8 hours of their time at the Oklahoma City Animal Shelter.”
The Bella Foundation also requires that every animal receiving financial aid must be spayed or neutered and micro chipped. “If we can keep animals at home and healthy they won’t end up in the already overburdened shelter system or on the street”, says McCune.
